Increasingly things ICT are moving to "the cloud". Whilst the need to have data which is accessible anywhere via multiple platforms is one of the drivers for this, these are by no means the only reason. Providing storage is another component as is the software service which includes instant and seamless updates. Most major software now includes cloud components including Microsoft Office and many Adobe products. All of these however are pay for service.
Google is different in that the basic service is totally free. It is only when you need more than 15Gb of storage, (or you require more than the basic service), that you have to pay. Google was the "original" cloud productivity suite and many schools are becoming Google Apps For Education or GAFE schools.
The following presentation looks at the Google Suite and how it might be used in school. The presentation contains a number movies which will explore Getting Started with the major components of Google Drive as well as some ideas on using Google in schools plus links to Google documentation.
